Exhibitors and market stall holders are being called on to register now to be part of the return of Council's popular Eco Fiesta.
The free biennial event centred around sustainability and the natural environment will be held at Anderson Gardens on Sunday 2 June.
A Council spokesperson said Eco Fiesta in 2024 would showcase the latest and greatest in environmental tips, products and ideas, and focus on the importance of pollinators to our natural environment.
"Townsville really is becoming known as a sustainable destination that embraces and participates in the arts, sports, recreational activities and of course events," they said.
"Eco Fiesta is one of Townsville's most loved family-friendly, accessible and free events, and with more than 10,000 people in attendance at the 2022 event it's a terrific opportunity for stallholders and exhibitors to showcase their products and services to a large portion of our like-minded community.
"To make this event the best it can be for our community, we want to encourage exhibitors and market stall holders to get involved, the best part is – it's completely free."
The spokesperson said Eco Fiesta was one of Townsville's most-loved events which comprised of stallholders, markets, a video competition – The Buzz and guest speakers.
"If you are part of a sustainable or ecological group, or if your business is about being eco-friendly, jump onto Council's website to register for the event," they said."
TropEco from James Cook University will once again return as a stall holder at this year's festival.
JCU Environmental Officer Brandan Espe said the northern Queensland region was rich with environmental diversity.
''It's so important the community is engaged and educated on Townsville's Dry Tropics Environment,'' Mr Espe said.
''Our local Bebegu Yumba, Townsville, Campus is of Botanical Garden status and safeguards more than 1200 species of plant and over 60 endangered species,'' he said.
''This includes one of the rarest trees in the world, the Mt Stuart Myrtle (Backhousia tetraptera), that is only found in Townsville.
"We pride ourselves on being passionate advocates for the region's environment and hope we can inspire the local community to do the same in their own backyards during this year's Eco Fiesta event."
Eco Fiesta will run from 9am to 3pm on Sunday 2 June 2024 with the screening of the Buzz Video competition running on the night before, June 1 from 5:30pm.
