Council Seeks Funding for Improved Sporting Facilities

Bayside Council has applied for three grants under the NSW Government's Greater Cities Sport Facility Fund that, if successful, will go towards improving community sporting facilities in Bayside.

The NSW Government has allocated $50 million to the Fund with $21 million available in the 2021/2022 round.

Council has identified three projects in Bexley, Scarborough Park and Mutch Park that would benefit from this funding if successful.

The Bexley Tennis Courts located at 369 Bexley Rd, Bexley consists of 2 concrete courts and 2 synthetic courts. The funding would help resurface the 4 tennis courts, fencing, new line marking, heavy duty court nets and improve lighting. The amenities building will be made safe and accessible.

The Scarborough Park Amenities Building located near Barton Street Monterey, which currently houses the historic St George Model Boat Club that is Australia's premier Radio Control Model Boat Club.

Funding will allow for the renewal of the existing amenities building and a new shelter to provide secure storage for the Club as well as shade and seating for other park users.

Mutch Park amenities could also be improved with new fixtures and fittings for toilets and change rooms. The installation of an accessible toilet, ambulant male and female cubicles and a baby change facility.
