Hawkesbury City Council invites Expressions of Interest from individuals and organisations who are passionate about creating a more inclusive, accessible and welcoming community to join our new Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee.
The role of the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee is to provide advice and guidance to Hawkesbury City Council on matters related to improving access, inclusion, and participation for all community members. We place a particular focus on people with disability and other diverse groups, including but not limited to members of the LGBTQIA+, Aboriginal and multicultural communities.
The committee will support Council's commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable community where all individuals can access services, facilities, and opportunities.
Our aim is to ensure Hawkesbury City and surrounding areas are accessible and inclusive places where all people can fully participate in social, economic, and cultural life, regardless of their age, ability, background, or disability status.
We are looking for community members who:
- Have lived experience of access or inclusion barriers due to their disability, gender identity, age, cultural background, sexual orientation or circumstances.
- Have experience caring for a person with disability or supporting individuals from socially isolated groups.
- Are committed to helping make Hawkesbury City more accessible and inclusive.
- Can work collaboratively within a team environment to reach shared goals.
- Can consider access and inclusion challenges from multiple perspectives.
Hawkesbury City Council wants the Committee to be as diverse and representative as our local community.
