
There will be some service changes in place due to current fire impacts, extreme weather forecasts and the Australia Day long weekend.
Kerbside collection services and Resource Recovery Centres
- Due to the declared Total Fire Ban on Saturday 24 January, all Resource Recovery Centres (RRCs) will be closed.
- No collections on closed roads within the bushfire footprint.
- All other collections operating as usual, subject to conditions.
- No planned changes to kerbside collections at this stage, however services may be postponed if the Fire Danger Rating increases.
- Please put your bins out the night before your normal collection day.
- Report damaged or missed bins at Kerbside bin service requests.
Pools – Australia Day long weekend
- Alexandra Pool open until 7.00 pm on Saturday.
- Yea Pool closed Sunday due to staffing.
- All other pools are scheduled to be open over the long weekend, including Monday.
- We will advise the community if pools can remain open late on hot weather days once staffing availability is confirmed.
Bushfire Information Hubs at Alexandra and Yea Library and Customer Service Centres
- Open Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 January, 10.00 am – 3.00 pm
- Closed Monday 26 January
Please note, all Council Libraries and Customer Service Centres across the Shire will be closed on Monday 26 January due to the Australia Day Public Holiday.
At both hubs:
- Council Officers, supported by the City of Whittlesea, are available to assist with relief and recovery support.
- Services Australia will attend Yea on both days and Alexandra on Saturday only.
- Victorian Council of Churches will provide psychological and wellbeing support.
- RACV and Suncorp Insurance vans will be available in Yea outside the Relief Information Hub.
Next week:
- Department of Family, Fairness and Housing are due to attend the Info Hubs at Yea and Alexandra from Wednesday 28 January.
- The Mobile Library remains out of service and opening hours may change due to fire conditions.
