Town Hall Broadmeadows will light up for local heroes this week in recognition of National Volunteer Week from 18 - 24 May 2026.
From today, the cube at Town Hall Broadmeadows will glow red - the official colour of Volunteer Week - and alternate with orange for Wear Orange Wednesday on the evening of Wednesday 20 May.
This public display acknowledges that volunteers are at the heart of the Hume community, supporting local events, strengthening community connections, and providing help to those who need it most.
The contributions of friends, neighbours and everyday residents often happen behind the scenes, but their impacts are felt across our city.
To show added support for those sometimes putting their life on the line in service to volunteering, Wear Orange Wednesday lets our State Emergency Service volunteers know that we recognise their bravery and sacrifice.
Lighting up Town Hall Broadmeadows is a simple way for us to recognise and thank the volunteers who give their time and care to make our community stronger.
The theme of this year's National Volunteer Week is "Your Year to Volunteer", making 2026 the perfect time for locals thinking of joining the more than 300 people in Hume who volunteer in the community.

"I encourage anyone who has ever considered volunteering to give it a try. Whether you're helping at a local event or supporting a community organisation, volunteering is a powerful way to give back, build connections, and discover new skills and friendships along the way."
