Council has launched its 2025-2029 Council Plan, following its adoption at last night's Council Meeting.
The Plan strategically outlines what Council will achieve over the next four years, where Council's focuses lie, and how the progress of these objectives will be measured.
Council's new 10-year Asset and Financial Plans were also adopted.
Yarra Ranges Mayor, Cr Jim Child, said that the new Council Plan reflects the community's wishes from the 18-month consultation period.
"This is the most extensive consultation process we've ever undertaken for a Council Plan, and the feedback from the community was loud and clear," Cr Child said.
"Planning for the future, transparent decision making, excellent customer service and getting the basics right is what the community wants us to prioritise, and we feel like that has been well captured in this Plan.
"Within the Plan are a number of services, projects and strategies that our staff are working towards every day to help make the Yarra Ranges the best place in the world.
"I'd like to sincerely thank every community member who has taken time over the journey to provide feedback into the Plan, whether it was online, in-person or as part of our community panel."
The 2025-2029 Council Plan is driven by four strategic objectives:
- Healthy Connected Communities
- Protected and Enhanced Natural Environment
- Quality Infrastructure and Liveable Places
- Prosperous Community and Vibrant Economy
Within these objectives are a number of projects or initiatives, such as delivering the Don Road, Healesville and Seville community pavilions, increasing and protecting biodiversity links and tree canopy connections, reducing stormwater and flood risks, and enhancing local amenity and walkability.
The Council Plan is also underpinned by Council's commitment to excellence, and to be future focused, responsive, fair, transparent and efficient.
The 2025-2035 Asset Plan provides an overview of all the assets that Council owns and outlines how Council will manage them efficiently and responsibly.
The 2025-2035 Financial Plan offers a long-term financial forecast to help Council secure its financial sustainability over the next 10 years.
