Federation Council has formally adopted its strategic advocacy agenda, establishing the Federation Council Advocacy Statement to the NSW Government to secure critical state funding and backing of major regional projects.
With the NSW State Election set for March 2027 and caretaker mode approaching early next year, Council is taking decisive, proactive action during the final parliamentary sitting weeks of 2026. The adopted plan directs the Mayor to write to key NSW Ministers immediately, present the Advocacy Statement to all state election candidates and secure formal meetings with leading contenders to lock in funding commitments.
Federation Council Mayor Cr, Cheryl Cook said the Federation community deserves modern infrastructure, reliable healthcare and vibrant public spaces but we cannot shoulder the financial burden alone.
"By presenting a clear, unified voice well ahead of the March 2027 election, we are ensuring that every candidate and party understands exactly what the Federation footprint needs to thrive," she said.
The mayor noted that the advocacy priorities directly reflect extensive feedback gathered through engagement with residents on Future Federation operational planning cycles.
"This isn't just a wish list, it is a strategic blueprint for our region's future," Mayor Cook said.
Council will begin issuing formal correspondence to NSW Ministers immediately and will seek face-to-face delegation meetings with key candidates over the coming months.
