Federation Council is inviting residents to apply for positions on the Road Advisory Committee to help guide the future management of the region's road network.

Established to provide direct community input, the Committee offers a platform for residents to provide feedback and advice on the strategic management of Council-owned roads and bridges. Members will play a key role in reviewing road hierarchies, maintenance service levels and the development of four-year renewal programs based on technical asset data.

Federation Council Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook emphasised the importance of local knowledge in maintaining the 1,600km road network within the local government area.

"Our residents are the eyes and ears of our road network," Mayor Cook said.

"The Roads Advisory Committee enables residents to have direct input into the issues affecting them. We want to ensure that our Road Maintenance Management Plan aligns with the real-world experiences of those driving these routes every day."

The Council is seeking two public members from each of the four geographical quadrants of the LGA. This structure ensures a distribution of perspectives from all types of road users, including business, farming, residential, urban and rural sectors.

"We aren't just looking for engineering experts," Mayor Cook said..

"We need people with strong community networks who can bring diverse perspectives to the table. Whether you are a primary producer moving grain or a resident commuting to work, your feedback is vital to our road and asset management."
