Council Urges Public Participation in Clean Up Australia Day

Snowy Monaro Regional Council is encouraging residents to join the national effort to protect our environment and help keep our region beautiful by participating in Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 3 March 2024.

Council is supporting registered Clean Up Australia Day events in the region by providing free rubbish drop-off for collected waste.

Mayor Chris Hanna said, "Clean Up Australia Day is a fantastic opportunity for individuals, families, schools and community groups to come together and make a positive difference. I encourage everyone to get involved and help rid our region's streets, parks and waterways of rubbish."

Important Information for Event Organisers:

• Only registered and approved Clean Up Australia Day events are eligible for the free rubbish drop-off service

• Please be aware that roadside clean-ups are not permitted due to Council resource limitations

• Clean-ups must take place in public spaces, school grounds or other public land

  • Council can provide suggestions for suitable locations upon request

    • Event organisers are responsible for ensuring the safety of all participants

  • This includes conducting a risk assessment, utilising the available site guide and checklists, and obtaining necessary permits for locations like National Parks

• Sharps containers are available to registered events upon request
