Councillor information sessions

Have you ever thought about making a Stand for Council? If so, you are invited to join the Municipal Association of Victoria's on-line candidate information workshop on Wednesday, 19 August.

Local Government elections take place on 24 October, and with COVID-19 impacting candidates' ability to meet community members face-to-face campaigning will be different.

The Stand for Council Workshop aims to ensure potential Councillor candidates are equipped with all the information they need to decide on a role in Local Government.

The Stand for Council Community and Candidate Information workshop will cover:

  • the role and purpose of Local Government
  • the new Local Government Act 2020
  • introduction to your Council and information on the municipal area
  • roles, responsibilities and expectations of a Councillor
  • the experience of being a Councillor
