Youth Week 2026 kicked off on Tuesday 7 April with Chalk It Up, a free event for young people to create a temporary chalk mural on the wall of the Wagga Wagga Civic Centre, and there are more great events to come.
Youth Development Officer Mel Fattore said this year's Chalk It Up event exceeded her expectations.
"This is the second year we have held Chalk It Up and we had an awesome turnout," Mel said.
"The Morrow Street wall was transformed into a vibrant expression of our local young people in no time with the help of young local artist Sara Wilson and young people connected with Council's Youth of Wagga Crew.
"While the event was aimed at young people aged 12 to 24, both years we have experienced community members of all ages and abilities taking part, which makes the event such welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
"Participants were also treated to some chill music, pizza and friendship bracelet making."
Youth Week will continue to be celebrated across the month of April and is aimed at young people aged 12 to 24 years.
"We are a few days into the program now, but there are still many great opportunities for young people to get involved in Youth Week," Mel Fattore said.

Spots remain available for a number of upskilling activities, including Youth Mental Health First Aid Refresher course on Thursday 16 April and Bushfood Recipes at Wagga Beach on Friday 17 April.
The Independent YOUng Person on Thursday 16 April at the Tolland Community Centre is another opportunity for young people to learn life skills needed to become independent, such as writing resumes, budgeting and creating healthy daily routines.
From 6pm on the same day, young people will be able to listen and perform at an Open Mic Night hosted by Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre, held outdoors on Burns Way.
Local youth services such as headspace Wagga are also hosting school holiday activities. These include Board Games & Pizza Party on Tuesday 14 April and Create Space, a creative space to connect, express yourself and explore art in a chill space, on Wednesday 15 April.
"We're also excited for young people in Wagga Wagga to have their say on the future of youth events and opportunities through a Crafty Consultation at Bolton Skate Park and Cricket Nets Monday 13 April," Mel Fattore said. "We will be making friendship bracelets, bedazzling items and welcoming BYO craft projects.
"You can find our friendly 2026 Youth of Wagga Crew attending a range of the events to ensure all young people feel welcome, included and have the chance to make new friends in fun youth-focused spaces."
