Sunraysia residents can view the latest and most comprehensive report on Mildura Rural City Council's operations following endorsement of the 2024-2025 Annual Report this month.

The report, which was endorsed at this month's Ordinary Council meeting, is one of Council's most important annual documents, serving as a scorecard on how the organisation is progressing in achieving the objectives of the Council Plan.

The Council Plan is a four-year roadmap for the organisation, informed by the feedback from thousands of local residents through an extensive consultation process.

Mildura Mayor Helen Healy said the document was a very public, transparent and comprehensive assessment of how the organisation was tracking against the Council Plan, as well as a wealth of information about Council's operations.

"From progress on major initiatives identified in our Annual Budget and the services we deliver through to detailed financial performance statements – it's all there for our community to view and look through," the Mayor said.

"While this is a vital tool in terms of being very transparent and accountable to our community, it's also a really useful and interesting document in terms of the amazing amount of information it contains about our organisation, our community and our region."

Some of the bigger initiatives that have progressed include:

  • Completed the Nichols Point Recreation Reserve sports facility
  • Completed the Red Cliffs Early Years Hub
  • Progress on plans to revitalise the Feast Street precinct within our CBD
  • Completed and opened the Trail of Lights
  • Completed the latest stage of the Deakin Avenue Centre median redevelopment between Seventh and Eighth Streets.
  • Launching our boldest and most innovative tourism campaign – Tropical North Victoria. Visitor spending over the past 12 months has hit $220 million.

Updated information about Council's operations and services includes:

  • Mildura Rural City Libraries loaned more than 250,00 items to our community
  • 81 groups were supported with more than $700,000 in community grants.
  • More than 5,100 kilometres of sealed and unsealed roads were maintained.
  • Council issued 822 building permits for works totalling more than $240 million over the past 12 months
    • $111.7m of this work was commercial development – which is higher than the average the past eight years.
  • Installed more solar PV on our buildings, which allows us to slash our annual energy bills by more than $300,000.

"I encourage anyone with an interest in our community, our municipality or Council's operations to take a read through the document, it's an absolute wealth of information about our region," Mayor Healy said.
