Council's Covid response

Armidale Regional Council

Following the announcement of a one week snap lockdown from 5pm today in the Armidale Regional Local Government Area, all non-essential Council facilities will be temporarily closed, and all staff who can do so will work from home to adhere to the Public Health Order.

Non-essential community facilities that will close are:

  • Armidale and Guyra Libraries
  • Armidale and Guyra Civic Administration Buildings
  • Armidale Folk Museum
  • Kent and Hughes House
  • Armidale Visitors Information Centre
  • Home Support Services Guyra (Nicolli House)
  • Council managed community halls including the Armidale Town Hall

Armidale Regional Council's General Manager James Roncon said the organisation is taking every step possible to ensure essential services are delivered as normal despite the increased restrictions.

"We have recently implemented Business Continuity Plans for all of Council's services in order to ensure we continue essential service delivery that keeps our community running," said Mr Roncon.

"It will still be all hands on deck behind the scenes, with our numerous teams of workers continuing to deliver our services in ways that minimise human contact and adheres to the Public Health Order requirements."

Council's Customer Service team will also be available over the phone and will be able to assist with any enquiries as usual.

"This is the time to take advantage of our wide range of online services available via the Self Service tab on our website," said Mr Roncon.

"The Guyra and Armidale libraries also have a huge selection of online options such as e-books and magazines that can be found by visiting the Libraries page on our website."

"We've been through this before so we all know how important it is to work together and follow the health advice to ensure our community is affected by this as little as possible."

The community is encouraged to regularly check Council's social media channels for any updates regarding Council's services.
