As part of Local Government Week, Griffith City Council is launching a new campaign reminding the community that behind every Council service is a local person who deserves to be treated with respect.
The "We're Locals Too" campaign shines a light on the people who keep Griffith running, from customer service officers and librarians to parks staff, lifeguards, engineers, mechanics and outdoor crews.
Throughout Local Government Week and beyond, the campaign will feature real Council employees, sharing a glimpse into who they are beyond their roles and the work they do to support the community every day.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran, said Local Government Week was the perfect opportunity to recognise the people who proudly serve the Griffith community.
"Our staff are your neighbours, friends, parents, volunteers and community members. They are committed to delivering services that make Griffith a great place to live, work and visit," Mayor Curran said.
"Like everyone, they deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect. A simple smile, a thank you or a respectful conversation can make a real difference."
While the vast majority of interactions between Council staff and the community are positive, Council is reminding residents that abusive or aggressive behaviour, whether in person, over the phone or online, is never acceptable.
Council's General Manager Scott Grant, said the campaign was about encouraging kindness and understanding.
"Every day our staff work hard to help the community, often in challenging situations," Mr Grant said.
"This campaign is about recognising the people behind the uniforms, the counters and the work vehicles. They're local people who care about Griffith and are here to help."
Residents are encouraged to follow the campaign throughout Local Government Week as Council celebrates the people behind the work and the important role respect plays in creating a safe and positive community for everyone.
