COVID-19 arrest

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 56-year-old man at a border control point.

Around midday on Friday 28 August, police located the man at the Queensland and Northern Territory border. The man allegedly provided false and misleading information to police about his travels which included being in Victoria in recent days.

He was arrested and conveyed to Tennant Creek Hospital to participate in COVID-19 testing. He returned a negative result.

The man was transported to Alice Springs and was charged with supply false unattended declaration. He was bailed to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on Wednesday 9 September 2020. He will remain in mandatory hotel quarantine until his court appearance.
