COVID-19 update - 2 April 2020

The Department of Health has reported eight new cases of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the State's total to 400.

Seven of the new cases are from the Perth metropolitan area and one is from the Kimberley.

Today's confirmed cases – six females and two males – are aged between 24 and 78.

Five are from cruise ships, two from overseas travel and one is a close contact of a confirmed case.

As with all new confirmed cases, contact tracing is underway and all cases are self-isolating.

There are currently 56 confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals, with 15 in ICU.

The number of recovered cases in WA is now 92.

To date, 15,790 Western Australians have tested negative for COVID-19. Of these 2,233 are from regional WA. There are now 92 recovered cases.
