COVID-19 update - 8 May 2020

The Department of Health has today reported one new case of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the State's total to 552.

The case is a 29-year-old female who had travelled overseas and is in quarantine in a Perth hotel.

There are now 534 people who have recovered from the virus, leaving WA with nine active cases of COVID-19.

There are four confirmed COVID-19 patients in Perth metropolitan hospitals, with one in ICU.

To date there have been 52,825 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 9,373 tests were carried out in regional WA.

Yesterday, 559 people presented to WA COVID-19 clinics – 516 people were assessed and 511 were swabbed.
