Covid - Changes to police front counter operations

Northern Territory Police are making some changes to help ensure the community's safety during the 72 hour lockdown affecting parts of the NT.

To reduce the face-to-face contact and minimise any exposure during the period of the lockdown NT Police will temporarily close a number of police front counters in the Darwin, Palmerston and rural areas from Monday 16 August 2021.

The following front counter facilities will be closed to the public until further notice:

  • Darwin Police Station
  • Casuarina Police Station
  • Humpty Doo Police Station
  • Katherine Police Station

The Palmerston Police Station will remain operational with front counter opening hours from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. The administration of firearms licensing and related activities will also be conducted from this facility.

The Darwin Watch House will also be closed and the Palmerston Watch House will become the primary facility.

The officers usually rostered to the sections temporarily closed will assist to maintain operational readiness and response.

This online reporting capability will help the public avoid making unnecessary trips when they need to stay home to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
