The lockout for Greater Darwin will extend for a further 24 hours, until 11.59pm tomorrow, Tuesday 9 November 2021. Katherine exited lockout from 5.00pm today. From this time, there will be no restrictions in Katherine on the reasons to leave home for people who are vaccinated and unvaccinated, but mask wearing will remain in place to reduce the risk of COVID-19 in the community.
The extended lockout in Greater Darwin is due to new public exposure sites being identified and further contact tracing and testing required. Anyone who attended the exposure sites listed below at the relevant date and time is considered a close contact and must immediately isolate, get tested for COVID-19 and remain in isolation for 14 days regardless of the result:
· Noonamah Tavern, Tuesday 2 November, 2.12pm - 6.17pm
· Humpty Doo Hotel, Tuesday 2 November, 7.05pm - 8.45pm
· Wharf One Food and Wine Darwin, Wednesday 3 November, timing to be confirmed
It is critical that all people check in everywhere, every time. Our contract tracing work has significantly increased as only 47 people used the Territory Check-In App to check-in at the Noonamah Tavern, despite CCTV footage showing more than 350 people at the venue during the exposure timeframe. Checking in with The Territory Check-In App is fast and secure and allows health teams to quickly undertake contact tracing. The Territory Check-In App is mandatory for business, organisations and places and venue staff should ask customers to show them that they have checked in.

No new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the NT and the cluster remains at three cases. Prior to the identification of new exposure sites today, NT Health contact tracers had identified more than 126 close contacts, all of whom had been contacted, tested for COVID-19 and are currently in isolation. The vast majority of these close contacts have returned a negative test, with pending results expected today.
Significant testing has been undertaken with 2,152 COVID-19 tests completed across Darwin and Katherine yesterday, all returning negative results. The Marrara Drive-Through Testing Site in Darwin is open until 10.00pm tonight. Bookings are preferred.
The Katherine Drive-Through Testing Site is open until 4:30pm today. Bookings are preferred.
There has been a surge in demand for the COVID-19 vaccine with more than 920 people getting the jab at NT Vaccination Centres yesterday, while nearly 2,500 bookings were made between 10pm on 6 November and 10pm on 7 November.
You can get your COVID-19 vaccine at NT Vaccination Centres, GP Clinics, Respiratory Clinics, Community Pharmacies and Aboriginal Health Clinics. You can book online here or call the COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 490 484. The Hotline is open until 9.30pm tonight and will re-open at 8am on Tuesday.
COVID-19 restrictions for Katherine
If you are in Katherine a mask mandate will be in place until 5:00pm on Friday 12 November.
These restrictions include:
· Face masks must be worn outside of the home when you are unable to maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres - this includes at places like the supermarket, shops, the hairdresser and on public transport. Workers who come into close contact with patrons, or who work in crowded environments will need to wear a mask. You do not have to wear a mask while exercising or playing sport.
· Patrons at restaurants, cafes and pubs must wear a mask unless eating or drinking. Dance floors can open but masks must be worn.
· Travel will be permitted across the Territory but restrictions continue to apply and follow you, if you travel outside the lockout area.
Lockout restrictions for Greater Darwin
Under a lockout, fully vaccinated residents are able to live normally within the lockout area. Everyone must wear a mask outside their place of residence.
Unvaccinated residents, including those people who have received only their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, must stay at home during a lockout period and are only permitted to leave for the following five reasons:
Medical treatment, including COVID testing or vaccinationFor essential goods and services, like groceries and medicationsEssential workFor one hour of outdoor exercise a day within 5 km from your home with one other person or people from your houseTo provide care and support to a family member or person who cannot support themselves.
