The Victorian Government has announced a new $40 million COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund to help councils transform public outdoor areas so businesses can get back to business and communities can enjoy local shopping and food attractions safely.
As Victoria reaches vaccination millstones and COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease, the funding will support a broad range of industries that have been severely impacted by COVID restrictions.
These include, hospitality businesses, gyms, creative businesses, beauty services, and non-essential retail businesses.
The fund builds on the Local Councils Outdoor Eating and Entertainment Package and will assist business viability and the local economy's recovery.
Council is currently working on what the delivery of this program will look like and encourages any businesses who are ready to utilise public footpaths or property to expand their capacity to submit an application.
