Councillors have today elected Cr Cheryl Cook as Mayor and Cr David Bott as Deputy Mayor to lead the Council over the next two year term.
The elections took place during today's Council meeting, marking a new chapter of leadership focused on financial sustainability, infrastructure delivery and strong local advocacy.
Re-elected Mayor, Cr Cheryl Cook, expressed her gratitude to her fellow councillors for their ongoing trust and outlined her vision for the Council region.
"It is a tremendous honor to be re-elected Mayor by my fellow councillors. I am deeply committed to serving our community with transparency, energy and a clear focus on delivering the services and facilities our residents deserve," Mayor Cook said.
"Our focus will be on strengthening local infrastructure, supporting local businesses and ensuring our community remains a vibrant, inclusive place to live and work. I look forward to working closely with my fellow councillors and the executive team to continue to achieve great outcomes for our region."
Cr David Bott, newly elected Deputy Mayor, highlighted the importance of collaborative governance in driving positive outcomes.
"I am privileged to step into the role of Deputy Mayor and look forward to partnering with Mayor Cook and the entire Council team," Cr Bott said.
"My focus will be on strong financial stewardship, open communication with residents and supporting Mayor Cook to deliver tangible outcomes for our entire community."
