Last week saw the official opening of the Maryborough Skate and Scooter Park. This week the Central Goldfields Art Gallery. Two very important structures in our Shire's development. The Skate Park started long before I was elected but I've been involved in the Art Gallery re-development from the initial design.

This is truly a wonder of architecture. From the moment you walk through the door, your eyes dart everywhere from the floors to the walls to the windows, and you must see the skylights. The building is simply stunning. But it's not just the architecture that's been updated. The climate control system and storage facility put our Gallery at another level regarding the type of art works we can now present and I look forward to visiting more often to see the fabulous displays.

The improvements to the foyer provide a welcoming space and the floor to ceiling glass doors light up a once dark area. We are now able to open those beautiful big red doors whilst keeping the collections safe and secure.

I commend everyone involved in this project and urge every person in our Shire to do yourself a favour and visit. Our Gallery doesn't get ongoing funding like some other galleries, so please leave a donation if you can. There are also options open for volunteers to help with the day-to-day running. Personally, I can't think of a better place to spend part of your day.
