Crash Involving Motor Vehicle And Metro Bus Rosny Hill Road And Bligh Street, TAS

Around 7:45am this morning today, a Metro Articulated School Bus was involved in a crash at the intersection of Bligh Street and Rosny Hill Road, Tasmania Police say.

It will be alleged a Toyota Land Cruiser utility travelling down Rosny Hill Road failed to stop for a red traffic light.

The bus was turning right from Bligh Street to travel up Rosny Hill Road when the utility impacted the front driver’s side of the bus.

The bus driver received injuries resulting in them being transported to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

The bus was carrying approximately 60 school students at the time.

A small number of students were treated for minor injuries and some were transported to hospital for those injuries by Ambulance or parents.

There was substantial disruption to traffic leading into peak hour as a result of the crash. Police would like to thank those members of the public who demonstrated patience whilst being caught in the traffic delays.

A 46 year old Montagu Bay man driving the utility will be charged with failing to obey a red traffic light.

Both drivers were given routine blood tests for alcohol and drugs.
