A critical incident investigation is underway after a police vehicle and a Kia sedan collided in Sydney's southwest today.
About 12:20pm (Sunday 13 September 2026), emergency services were called to Prairie Vale Road, Bossley Park, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command were responding to a priority incident involving a child seen running on the roadway when the police vehicle, with lights and sirens activated, and Kia sedan collided.
Both vehicles left the roadway, crashed through a fence and struck two separate houses.
The driver of the Kia – a woman believed to be aged in her late 20s - was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
The passenger – a woman believed to be aged in her early 50s - was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
Two male police officers – both constables aged 24, were taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing and treatment of minor injuries.
No occupants of the houses were injured.
Following these inquiries, a critical incident was declared. A Critical Incident Investigation Team from Campbelltown City Police Area Command, with assistance from the Crash Investigation Unit, was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation will be subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
