Creating Jobs and Boosting Remote Health Care: Contract Awarded for Jabiru Health Centre

NT Government

The Territory Labor Government has awarded local business Platt Architects the tender to design Jabiru's new Health Centre.

Final design work is expected to be complete in June and construction of the health centre is on track to start before the end of this year.

The design will feature an ambulance bay, consult and treatment rooms and space for dental and hearing care and x-rays to be carried out.

Utility rooms and amenities for staff and patients will also be included.

A morgue and four-chair renal unit will complement the Jabiru Health Centre, with the latter expanding renal dialysis services for patients in the West Arnhem region.

The project forms part of Labor's $135.5 million Jabiru Futures commitment to repurpose the Jabiru Township in line with the vision of Mirrar Traditional Owners.

This investment will provide a boost to tourism and improve government services in the area. The design process is also keeping Territorians in jobs, and the local economy ticking over.
