Theredevelopment of John Stokes, an important revitalisation project for theNightcliff area has reached another milestone, with works currently underway.
Localcompany NTEX was awarded the $1.1 million demolition contract, clearing thearea for construction to begin, which will create a more attractive,rejuvenated space for the community.
Largemachinery is onsite, which will safely remove the old infrastructure making wayfor:
- A24 Hour Police Station;
- Specifically designedpublic housing including for seniors andpeople living with disabilities;
- Apedestrian-friendly link between the Nightcliff Village and Nightcliff ShoppingCentre; and
- Openspace and the expansion of local services
Theconstruction of these important amenities will create more than 250 local jobsover the lifetime of the project.
Demolitionis anticipated to be completed in the coming months.
