Ms Creina Chapman will continue her tenure as Deputy Chair of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), following a recommendation by the Australian Government.
Ms Chapman has led the ACMA as Deputy Chair over the last five years. Her reappointment will see her continue to serve in this role for a period of 18 months from 11 June 2023.
With extensive experience across the media, broadcasting and telecommunications sectors, Ms Chapman's appointment will provide continuity as the ACMA works with the Government and industry to support media regulatory reform, promote effective and innovative spectrum management, and enhance telco consumer safeguards.
It also comes as the Government prepares to undertake public consultation on new powers for the ACMA to combat the spread of harmful misinformation and disinformation online, and the announcement that a SMS ID sender Registry to tackle scams will be funded in the 2023-24 Federal Budget.
The Government congratulates Ms Chapman on her reappointment.
