Crescent Head foreshore and biodiversity on Council's July Agenda

The second last Ordinary Council meeting of this term of Council will be held in Council Chambers from 9am on Tuesday 20 July.

Among the agenda items for consideration by Council are the Crescent Head Public Domain Plan, a draft Biodiversity Strategy and amendments to the Development Control Plan centred around flood hazard areas.

Crescent Head Public Domain Plan

The work is in line with the Crescent Head Master Plan that was developed over a number of years in consultation with the community.

Draft Biodiversity Strategy

Council has engaged with community to develop a Biodiversity Strategy to allow for population growth while preserving and improving the rich biodiversity of the area for future generations.

If approved at the meeting the strategy will go on public exhibition via Your Say Macleay.

Kempsey CBD flood planning

Following the Kempsey CBD Floodplain Risk Management Study and the adoption of the Kempsey CBD Floodplain Risk Management Plan(PDF, 1MB), Council is proposing to amend the Kempsey Development Control Plan 2013 to incorporate the latest flood information and recommendations made in the plan.

The new flood mapping and the amendment were on public exhibition until 29 June.

Before each ordinary meeting, Council holds a public forum to hear from members of the community about items on its business agenda. Public forums may also be held before extraordinary Council meetings and Council committee meetings.
