Firefighters have been battling a grass fire at Maintongoon near Bonnie Doon since last night (1/3/23).

CFA was called to the Stoney Creek Road fire at 6.45pm on 1 March.

An Emergency Warning was issued at 7.47pm last night asking people in the area to leave immediately.

The warning was downgraded to a Watch and Act which remains in place today.

Favourable conditions overnight helped crews on the ground but a full containment line has not yet been established yet so there are concerns the fire could continue today if winds pick up.

The fire is currently around 120 hectares is size.

There are no reported losses at this stage but the community is asked to remain vigilant and stay informed via the Vic Emergency app.

CFA is sending strike teams to the fire today.

The cause is under investigation.
