Tyabb Fire Brigade was first to respond to a crane on fire on Western Port Highway, Tyabb. Support from Baxter, Frankston, Hallam, Hastings, Moorooduc, Somerville and Westernport brigades arrived shortly after.

Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and United Energy were also on scene.

Padua College students were in lock down due to the incident and trains were suspended because there was substantial fuel near tracks.

The fire was extinguished at 2.15pm, however emergency crews continued to work at the scene as fuel and hydraulics were found to have leaked into a spill drain.

The vehicle was removed from the scene and debris was cleaned up.

At 4.05pm trains were allowed to operate at low speed.

Crews worked on the scene until 7.15pm when the incident was deemed safe.

Great work done by all
