Crib Point Pool has marked a major milestone, celebrating 50 years at the heart of the local community with a sun-soaked anniversary event that brought generations together.
Since opening in 1975, the outdoor pool has been a much-loved part of the Crib Point community, hosting swimming lessons, carnivals, family fun days and countless memories for locals of all ages, with many starting their day with a morning swim as the sun rises.
The 50-year celebration reflected that legacy, with families, long-time users and first-time visitors all joining in the festivities.
Mayor Councillor Anthony Marsh said the anniversary was a reminder of how important shared community spaces are to local life.
"Crib Point Pool has been bringing people together for 50 years, and that sense of connection was on full display at the celebration," Cr Marsh said. "It's a place where generations have learned to swim, spent long summer days, and built lasting memories. Milestones like this remind us why community spaces matter."
The Family Fun Day featured pool games, live music, family activities and a special 50-year birthday cake, with a strong turnout from the community throughout the afternoon. Councillors Anthony Marsh, Kate Roper, Stephen Batty and Warringine Ward Councillor Michael Stephens were all in attendance.
Cr Stephens said the pool continues to play a vital role in Crib Point's identity.
"For so many locals, this pool is part of their personal history," Cr Stephens said. "Seeing families here together, some spanning multiple generations, really shows the role the pool plays in community life. Celebrating 50 years is about honouring that history while looking ahead to many more summers to come."
Locals can also look forward to a Peninsula Tales video releasing this week via our Facebook page, capturing the colour, energy and community spirit of the 50-year celebrations, along with an update on the new pool mural.
The next stage of the mural project will launch in mid-February, when the community will be invited to vote on their favourite design. Stay tuned for updates as Crib Point Pool's next chapter comes to life.
