Cricket Victoria Unveils 2025/26 State Umpiring Panel

Cricket Victoria is pleased to unveil our State Umpiring Panel for the 2025/26 season.

Following a thorough selection process assessing performance, capability, and alignment with the demands of State-level officiating, six umpires have been named to this season's panel.

The group represents a blend of consistency, leadership, and new talent, and will play a key role in delivering high-quality officiating across Victorian Premier Cricket and representative competitions.

Returning to the State Umpiring Panel for the 2025/26 season are:

  • Ashfaq Ali
  • Gaurav Bawa
  • Clare Haysom
  • Malcolm Wood

Each umpire continues to demonstrate the professionalism and skill required to umpire at State level, and their ongoing contributions to Victorian officiating are highly valued.

Cricket Victoria is also delighted to welcome two new members to the State Panel for 2025/26:

  • Louise Broadfoot
  • Bede Sajowitz

A former Australian Test cricketer, Broadfoot has made a strong impression since joining the Victorian Premier Panel. Now serving as an Integrity Officer at Tennis Australia, she brings significant high-performance experience and has quickly emerged as a composed and respected on-field leader.

Broadfoot said she was excited to be added to the State Panel for the 2025/26 season.

"Being a part of the State Umpiring Panel means I'll have another season of a steep learning curve as I did last year. I accept that I'll make mistakes, but I'm looking forward to challenging myself and working with some great people."

Recently relocating from New South Wales, Bede brings a strong background in both officiating and cricket administration. As a former Executive Officer at Cricket NSW and a recognised figure within the CA National Umpire Pathway, his experience will be a great asset to Victorian umpiring.

Bede said he is thrilled to have made the move to Melbourne and join the Victorian Premier Cricket Panel ahead of the 2025-26 season.

"I'm extremely grateful to NSWCUSA, Cricket NSW, and Cricket Australia for their support of my umpiring and the opportunities they have provided in my officiating journey so far."

"I'm looking forward to the summer ahead, working with new colleagues, continuing to develop my umpiring, and making a positive contribution to Victorian Premier Cricket in the years to come."

Cricket Victoria would also like to pay recognition to our Cricket Australia National Contracted Umpires for the 2024/25 season - Phil Gillespie, Shawn Craig, Daryl Brigham and Chris Grant.

Our Victorian quartet continue to impress, refine their skills and lead from the front to pave a genuine path forward for future Victorian umpires at the National level.
