Critical incident investigation underway after woman injured at Hunters Hill, NSW

A critical incident investigation is underway after a woman was seriously injured when she fell from an overpass at Hunters Hill this morning, NSW Police say.

Officers from Ryde Police Area Command and paramedics were called to Burns Bay Road about 3:45am (Wednesday 19 December 2018), due to concerns for the welfare of a 23-year-old woman.

Officers attempted to stop the woman as she ran across the road; however, she eluded them and fell about 10m from a bridge onto the on-ramp.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital where she remains in a serious condition with head injuries.

A critical incident team from the Blue Mountains PAC will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident. That investigation will be subject to independent review by LECC.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, in particular any person who may have been driving past the incident who may have dashcam footage of the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
