Critical incident launched after three injured in Blacktown

A critical incident investigation has been launched after three people were injured at Blacktown.

Emergency services were called to Stephen Street about 4.45am today (Thursday 14 March 2019), following reports of a home invasion.

One man was located at the home with a gunshot wound to the thigh, while the other was found with injuries believed to have been caused by an axe.

Both have been taken to Westmead Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Their ages aren't yet known.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command attended and confronted a man as he was running from the rear of the home.

The 33-year-old, who was armed with a firearm, was shot in the wrist by police.

He's been taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition, where he remains under police guard.

Another man was arrested nearby and taken to Blacktown Police Station.

A Critical Incident Team will now investigate all circumstances surrounding the incident, including the discharge of a police firearm.
