Cross District Evade Police Arrest, WA

Two men are due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow after they were charged by Midland Detectives in relation to an evade police incident on Tuesday, 30 August 2016.

It will be alleged the men stole a Volkswagen Golf sedan during a burglary in Floreat on Monday morning yesterday. , WA Police say

The stolen vehicle was sighted in City Beach on Tuesday morning today and it will be alleged the driver did not stop when requested to do so by police and accelerated away.

The police helicopter monitored the vehicle as it drove through various suburbs including City Beach, Scarborough, Floreat, Jolimont , Subiaco, West Perth, South Perth and Como.

Police successfully deployed a stinger device on two separate occasions (once in Floreat and once in Perth).

The two occupants of the stolen car abandoned it on Hovia Terrace, Como and fled on foot. It is also alleged the men attempted to stop a number of passing motorists on Canning Highway, seemingly in an attempt to gain access to another car to depart the area.

Kensington Detectives took the men into custody on Canning Highway.

A 30 year old man of Belmont was charged with:-

1x Steal Motor Vehicle and Drive Recklessly;

1x Reckless Driving – Dangerous to Public/ Person (to escape pursuit;)

1x Driver of Vehicle Failed to Stop (Circs Agg;)

1x No Authority to Drive (Cancelled;)

8x Stealing;

2x Possess stolen unlawfully obtained property;

1x Criminal Damage by Fire;

1x Criminal Damage and

1x Steal Motor Vehicle.

A 21 year old man of Belmont was charged with:-

1x Steal Motor Vehicle;

1x Possess stolen unlawfully obtained property and

6x Stealing .
