Cultov8 comes to Geelong for a free weekend

We are happy to announce that Cultov8 has been funded by LaunchVic to hold a series of free Business Start-up Weekends and an 8-week Business Accelerator Program in Geelong from 12-13 October 2019.

Cultov8 is for people who want to start a business, or people who already have one and are looking to expand, to come along and spend time working on their start-up from Saturday to Sunday.

Over this weekend business coaches, web, app, and game developers, and people with multimedia and social media skills will provide support and help to develop and improve skills to better manage a business.

On Sunday afternoon you'll have the opportunity to 'pitch' your idea or business to a panel of judges who will then give you feedback. If you win the pitch, you will receive $500, or $250 for the People's Choice winner.

Conducted by Enterprising Partnerships, a 29-year-old social impact company which operates around Australia and internationally, Cultov8's purpose it to increase the number of migrant-owned businesses in Victoria.

Enterprising Partnerships are working in partnership with the City of Greater Geelong, Diversitat, and Runway Geelong, to hold a Business Start-up Weekend with a focus on assisting migrants, former refugees and asylum seekers of all ages and nationalities to start a business or grow a business they may already own. Australian-born people are also very welcome to attend.

We are supporting this initiative.

The weekend is free and, for those who want additional support to develop their business, a follow up 8-week online and face to face program is also free.

Places are limited, register now on the Cultov8 website.

Councillor Bruce Harwood - Mayor

Cultov8 is a terrific way to assist migrants to create or expand a new business, as supporting their economic participation helps build a more cohesive, clever and creative community.

The program is particularly aimed at people with culturally-diverse backgrounds but everyone from across the City is welcome to attend.

Councillor Sarah Mansfield - Chair, An Inclusive and Diverse Community

Migrants have a long and proud history of making significant contributions to our city-region. The City is looking at different, innovative ways to empower migrant, former refugees and asylum seekers to achieve their business goals, and Cultov8 is a great example of that.

Lynda Ford - CEO, Enterprising Partnerships

We've held Cultov8 in eight locations in Victoria since early 2018 and we are delighted to bring the weekend to Geelong in October 2019.

So far more than 220 participants have been assisted to develop their idea or grow their business and we are looking forward to working with our partners to help residents in greater Geelong to turn their business idea into a reality.
