Patients in Swan Hill will be able to access rehabilitation and care so that they can recover faster from illness and get back home, thanks to new sub-acute services delivered by the Andrews Labor Government.
Minister for Health Jenny Mikakos today announced the $2.6 million sub-acute services would be open to patients in the coming months.
The Labor Government's Regional Health Infrastructure Fund is the largest of its kind in Victorian history, and is helping rural and regional health services build what they need to offer the very best care. The Labor Government recently committed to a $100 million boost to the flagship $250 million fund.
The Government's investment delivers 14 new beds, offering general inpatient rehabilitation services, geriatric evaluation and transitional care beds.
The inpatient services play an important role in the rehabilitation therapies that help patients remain independent by living at home.
The Government's investment also includes two palliative care beds to provide compassionate end-of-life care for people with a terminal illness, and their families, closer to home.
We're giving Swan Hill District Health record operational funding so that they can offer patients great care. This financial year, the Government is investing $40.3 million – that's 24.7 per cent more than when the Liberal Nationals were last in power.
