As COP30 is officially opening today, we are looking back at the first two days of the Climate Leaders' Summit, which took place on 6-7 November in Belém, Brazil. Strong speeches from world leaders and the launch of WMO's State of Climate Update set the tone for a busy week ahead, where the WMO delegation's role will be to support and inform the negotiations.

  • UN Secretary-General António Guterres called last Thursday for urgent action to drive down global temperatures and keep the 1.5°C goal within reach.
