Dale Stephens Chosen as Nat Candidate for Chch Central

The New Zealand National Party

Dale Aotea Stephens (Te Rarawa) has been selected as National's Christchurch Central candidate for the 2026 general election.

Mr Stephens is a professional company director having previously worked as a police officer and chief executive of New Zealand's peak bodies for basketball and touch rugby. He was National's candidate for Christchurch Central in 2023.

"I am proud to stand as National's candidate in Christchurch Central," Mr Stephens says.

"My career in growing businesses both in New Zealand and internationally has taught me how important sound economic management truly is, particularly in an uncertain global environment. National has spent the last two years managing the books carefully which means we are in the best position in years to deal with the war in Iran.

"The National-led Government's timely, temporary, and targeted relief package will ensure that low-to-middle income families get a $50 boost per week until fuel prices return to normal. This package ensures that those most in need receive support without increasing inflation for all New Zealanders.

"I was born and bred in Christchurch; this is my home. I am committed to delivering for the people of Christchurch Central as I campaign to represent them as their next local MP and to re-elect a National Government."
