Luccio Cercarelli, CEO of the Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet and Territory Recovery Coordinator confirmed that work is continuing to support the phased recovery process, with repatriation of evacuated Nauiyu community residents to be completed on Saturday.
The river peaked at major flood levels last week and fell below the moderate flood level on Wednesday. Cleanup and assessment teams have been on the ground, with limited permit‑only access provided yesterday to enable essential workers to restore critical services, including the health clinic, school and store.
Road assessments will continue following repatriation. Public access to the Daly River Road remains closed, with permits required for essential workers. A Flood Watch and Act remains in place for the lower Daly River, and people are urged to monitor conditions and exercise caution.
This will finalise our community recovery and repatriation efforts.
