Dandenong police thought they had seen it all before responding to calls reporting a driver was asleep at the wheel in the drive-thru of a fast-food restaurant, early hours this morning.
Officers arrived at the Cheltenham Road restaurant to find a man allegedly asleep at the wheel of a Toyota Camry about 2.30am.
It is alleged the vehicle's ignition was on and parked at the end of the drive-thru.
Officers removed the keys from the Toyota and made several attempts to wake up the alleged driver.
The driver allegedly awoke as officers identified empty bottles and casks of wine in the backseat of the vehicle.
It is alleged that the driver of the Toyota provided an evidentiary breath test reading of .158, more than three times the legal prescribed concentration of alcohol.
Officers allege the driver has never held a licence.
The man was arrested in relation to other outstanding matters.
A 25-year-old Dingley Village man is expected to be charged in relation to the drive-thru incident with drink-drinking and other driving offences.
