Dangerous driving charge, Cotton Tree

Police have charged a woman after she drove onto a road which was closed for a marathon on August 14.

Around 8.15am police directed a vehicle to stop as it travelled along Cottontree Esplanade, which was closed at the time.

The driver of the vehicle allegedly sped off close to a number of runners and over traffic cones.

The vehicle also struck a gutter before continuing north onto Duporth Avenue and leaving the scene.

A 20-year-old Maroochydore woman has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, failure to comply with requirement to stop vehicle, driving unlicensed, burglary, possess dangerous drug (cannabis), possess utensils (waterpipe), possess a knife in a public place, stealing and obstruct police.

She will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court tomorrow, August 17.
