Dangerous driving charge in Townsville, QLD

A 22-year-old man is due to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court this morning charged with dangerous driving, Queensland Police say.

Police will allege that around 11.30pm last night a vehicle was travelling inbound on Denham Street when it failed to successfully negotiate a right hand turn into Flinders Street, with the vehicle leaving the roadway and mounting the footpath.

A 28-year-old male pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries after he was struck by the vehicle as it travelled along the footpath, before it re-entered Flinders Street and came to a halt.

The male driver, a 22-year-old Townsville man was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
