Dangerous driving stolen car at Gold Coast

Two men have been charged with a string of offences after allegedly attempting to evade police in a stolen car at Coomera last night.

Gold Coast police were conducting patrols along the Pacific Motorway when they observed a stolen white Holden Captiva around 7.30pm.

Officers followed the vehicle to the Foxwell Road offramp where a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed, however the car continued to head along Dreamworld Parkway and back on to the Motorway.

The driver of the damaged car allegedly attempted to ram police vehicles a number of times before speeding away.

The vehicle was dumped soon after on Diamond Sands Drive at Upper Coomera and the Dog Squad commenced an immediate search of the area.

A successful track by the Police Dog led to the arrest of two men hiding near a service station.

It is alleged the men are linked to a number of recent burglaries and vehicle thefts in the Gold Coast area.

An 18-year-old Upper Coomera man has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, evasion, obstruct police, unlawful uses of a motor vehicle, driving unlicensed, burglary, trespass, stealing and two counts of receiving tainted property.

Another 18-year-old man has been charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, receiving tainted property and one count each of burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, obstruct police and trespass.

Both are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today (July 17).
