Dangerous Drivingin Hobart

A 28-year-old Claremont man has been charged with Dangerous Driving, Evading Police with Aggravating Circumstances and Exceeding the Prescribed Alcohol limit following an incident in the early hours of this morning.

About 12:40am police attempted to intercept a White Holden Statesman sedan on Sandy Bay Road, however the vehicle failed to stop, proceeding to drive in an extremely dangerous manner through Hobart before traveling north along the Brooker Highway to Claremont, still driving dangerously.

The man was located at his home address following the incident and taken into custody without incident. He was breath tested and returned a reading of 0.121. His vehicle has been impounded.

Incidents of this nature are of extreme concern to police, Sergeant Angus Dobner said.

"The risk this man's actions caused to other road users was significant, and thankfully the outcome wasn't worse," he said.

"Police will continue to investigate all incidents of Dangerous Driving and hold these offenders to account."

"Several vehicles had to take evasive action as a result of this man's driving and police have spoken with some of them, however we would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed this vehicle or may have relevant dashcam footage."
