Dangerous operation, evade, Petrie

Police have charged a 31-year-old man following an incident which concluded in Petrie overnight.

Around 7pm last night (January 4) a silver utility was seen at a Chermside shopping centre on Gympie Road with police wishing to speak with the driver in relation to the alleged theft of a motorcyle.

A short time later Polair 2 picked up the vehicle travelling northbound on Carseldine Road towards Linkfield Road in Brendale.

Around 7:30pm the male passenger has exited the ute on Curlew Court at Kurwongbah.

Not long after, the driver evaded a tyre deflation device on Kurrajong Street at speed, before driving over a second set deployed on Samsonvale Road.

The vehicle came to a stop in nearby Youngs Crossing Creek where the driver fled on foot.

He was arrested without incident just before 8pm at the corner of Dayboro and Youngs Crossing roads sustaining a small laceration to his hand.

The man was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving a motor vehicle without a licence and evasion of police.

He has also been charged over the alleged theft of a motorcycle in Chermside yesterday (January 4).

The Morayfield man is expected to appear before the Caboolture Magistrates Court at a later date.

The 29-year-old man believed to be the passenger in the vehicle was arrested at a North Lakes address just before 2am this morning and has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He is due to face the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court tomorrow.
