Dangerous operation of motor vehicle in Lawnton, QLD

Two people have been charged after a dangerous driving incident last night that ended in Lawnton, Queensland Police say.

Around 3.50pm a vehicle was stolen from a Teneriffe residence. The owner of the vehicle was able to track the vehicle using GPS and notified police.

PolAir located the vehicle around 6.15pm on Dohles Rocks Road at Kallangur and tracked the vehicle along Youngs Crossing Road into Todds Road, Lawnton. Police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device at the intersection of Todds Road and Ebert Parade.

It will be alleged the driver continued travelling in the vehicle with its tyres deflated, turning on to Gympie Road before entering the Lawnton Showgrounds. The vehicle turned back onto Gympie Road where it will be further alleged the driver rammed a police vehicle before coming to a stop.

Two males were taken into custody without incident.

An 18-year-old Zillmere man has been charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of dangerous operation of a vehicle and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property. He is expected to appear at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court this morning.

A 16-year-old Bellmere boy has been charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one count of unlicensed driving, obstruct police, receiving tainted property and  burglary.

No one was hurt during the incident.
