Darwin CBD: Police Charge Person for Unlawfully Causing Serious Harm

Northern Territory Police have charged a 25-year-old man following an alleged assault on Smith Street last Saturday.

At 1:50am, a 40-year-old man was leaving a licenced premises when he was allegedly assaulted by the 25-year-old man. The victim was punched to the face, rendering him unconscious and causing him to fall backwards and hit his head.

A 26-year-old man intervened and was allegedly assaulted by the same offender.

The 40-year-old man was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital in a serious condition, where he remains receiving treatment for his injuries.

Yesterday, Serious Crime detectives took carriage of the matter and arrested the offender. He has since been charged with unlawfully cause serious harm and was bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court on 27 June 2023.
