Darwin Man Takes Home $1 Million Lotto Win

A Girraween man, following in his father's footsteps as a lottery enthusiast, experienced a life-altering moment when he discovered he had won $1 million in the recent Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw.

The Darwin resident secured one of the three division one winning entries in the draw numbered 4342, which took place on Monday, 27 November 2023.

The news of his newfound millionaire status reached him in a rather unexpected manner.

While at work and initially on speakerphone next to his boss, he received the winning call from lotto officials.

“Wow! Won’t you look at that!” he laughed.

“That’s unreal. I’m stoked!

“Dad got me into lotteries and Instant Scratch-Its tickets – I’ve got him to thank!

“I’m at work, and when you called, I was sitting next to my boss. I thought maybe it was a scam call, so I had it on speaker. I quickly turned it off speaker and now here we are!

“I marked these lottery numbers a long time ago and I’ve played the same ticket over and over.

“These are my lucky numbers now.

“It might be hard to concentrate today.”

Contrary to the typical fantasies of extravagant holidays or luxury cars, the winner's first thought was to buy a property, acknowledging his plans for a modest celebration with a drink that evening.

His winning ticket, a marked 18-game entry, was purchased online at thelott.com, which is the official site for Australia’s lotteries. The winning numbers for the draw were 15, 45, 22, 10, 1, and 13, with supplementary numbers 20 and 23.
