Corangamite residents have another two weeks to nominate community members and groups for the 2023 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year.

Nominations opened on Monday 5 September and have been extended until Thursday 10 November

Mayor Ruth Gstrein encouraged residents to take a few minutes and nominate inspirational people in their community for an award.

"There are so many ways that passionate contributors bring us together as a community," Cr Gstrein said.

"There are people who show great support for each other in times of need like the recent floods.

"Others tick away over the long term, helping run sporting and service clubs, rec reserves, pools and halls.

"These awards are an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals and groups in our community," Cr Gstrein said.

"They give us the chance to say, 'Thank you for a job well done. We appreciate and value what you do for our community'.

The awards will be presented at the Shire's Australia Day event at the Noorat Recreation Reserve from 10 am on Thursday 26 January 2023.
